I regularly drive under an overpass of the Norwottuck Rail Trail on Snell Street in Amherst to and from my office at Sawicki Real Estate on University Dr., but had never taken the time to explore it.  So when a free sunny Sunday afternoon created an opportunity to do so, I loaded my 15-year-old mountain bike and made my way to the office.

With recent news reports about the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, TX, it reminds us of the presidential library right here in the Pioneer Valley.

First quarter home sales & prices up in the Pioneer Valley; sales down in March due to low inventory Reply

Pioneer Valley single-family home sales were up .6% in the first quarter when compared to the same period last year, according to the REALTOR Association of Pioneer Valley.  Median home sale prices also climbed 2.5% in the first quarter.  However, according to MLS PIN data, March saw a 10.3% decrease in single-family home sales, while median single-family home prices rose 1.8% when compared to March.  A lack of inventory continues to slow sales. Becoming a Pioneer Valley real estate agent is a pretty easy thing to do as it is throughout Massachusetts.  It’s as simple as being 18 years old, taking a class, and passing a test.  One doesn’t need a college degree or even need to have been a good high school student.  One can even be a high school drop-out who has earned their General Equivalency Diploma (GED).  When entrusting someone to serve as a consultant when selling or buying what is likely the largest investment a Pioneer Valley home seller or home buyer will make, it is not advisable to work with someone who has only met these minimum requirements.  More…
