The Original Western Mass Home & Garden Show will be held from March 21 to March 24, at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield. This year’s event will mark the 59th year that the show has been held and will include over 350 vendors, including builders, remodelers, kitchen and bath specialists, financial institutions, landscapers, painters, roofers, pool companies, and everything in between.
Although the admission price is $10, you can save $7 on the regular admission price on Thursday, $5 on Friday, and $3 on Saturday or Sunday with a coupon that can be found by clicking here.
“Our association has been a vital resource for people in the Pioneer Valley for over 74 years,” said Brad Campbell, the Executive Director of HBRAWM in a press release. “Not only do we serve the residential contractor by providing networking and educational opportunities, we are also here to help the consumer. Whether it is attending our home shop, picking up a copy of our latest Consumer Guide to the Building Industry, or calling our office for referrals, our association helps to educate consumers about selecting a reputable contractor that can address all their needs.”
There will also be opportunities to learn about making your home more energy efficient―and subsequently save money on energy costs― at the EcoBuilding Bargains and the Center for Environmental Technology (CET) tent. Western Mass Electric will also be on hand selling energy efficient lighting packages. There will also be solar companies, green builders, energy audit companies, energy efficient heating and air-conditioning, and Energy Star® appliance companies―all of which will be able to show attendees how to qualify for various tax credits that are available for those making energy efficient improvements.
You wouldn’t think that a home show is an opportunity to help wounded warriors, but the show’s producers, The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Western Mas, will be raising funds and awareness for Homes for our Troops. The association recently completed a specially designed home in Granby for Sgt. Joshua Bouchard, who was wounded while serving in Afghanistan in 2009. It was my privilege to assist Homes for our Troops with the land purchase, donating the full buyer’s agency commission to the effort.
There will also be a fully furnished and landscaped modular home display, which attendees will be able to tour and view a solar system in action.
Cooking shows will be held several times a day as well. Various media outlets will be holding promotional giveaways. WEEI will be giving away Boston Red Sox Tickets; WMAS Radio will be conducting their “Hot Tub Prize Machine” contest with the chance to win up to $10,000; Clear Channel will be raffling off a NASCAR Getaway Package; and there will also be an opportunity to win a getaway to Smugglers Notch in Vermont.
The show will be open on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for the show website.
